Are you an advocate for quality education in child and youth care?
Are you interested in decision-making and collaborative work in educational accreditation?
Have you thought about how you might contribute to the future of CYC education?
The call for applications opens on April 1 and the deadline is September 1. There is a vacancy in each of the three regions … Western, Central and Northern, and Eastern … and elections will be held at the next AGM held in the November-January timeframe.
How to Apply
Please apply by letter with CV or resume to CYCEAB c/o admin@nullcycaccreditation.ca. CYCEAB’s Nominating Committee will review your application and get back to you following the applications deadline. We encourage first-time applicants to volunteer for one of CYCEAB’s committees to gain an understanding of the work of the organization and Board of Directors, but it is not mandatory.
New applicants are asked to consider the positions of President and Treasurer which become open following the next AGM. Candidates for these positions are filled by elected directors and are appointed by the Board of Directors following the AGM.
Please include answers to the following questions within your application letter:
- What region are you from as defined in the CYCEAB bylaws?
Western Region: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba
Central and Northern Region: Ontario, Quebec, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon
Eastern Region: Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island - How are you involved in child and youth care education?
- How are you staying current in child and youth care education?
- What has your relationship been to CYCEAB, e.g., were you a member of one of CYCEAB’s committees?
- How do you think you can contribute as a CYCEAB board member and vote as individuals and not as functional constituents of the bodies to which you belong?
- If you are interested in an Executive Committee position either now or at a future time, please indicate your interest and how you are qualified for the position you are interested in. Recruitment is underway to find the next President and Treasurer.
Qualifications for a director-at-large position include the following:
- Involvement in child and youth care education
- Currency in child and youth care education
- Interest in and willingness to support CYCEAB’s goals and objectives
- Initiative
- Integrity
- Analytical ability
- Sensitivity and awareness
- Leadership
- Sound decision-making ability
- Planning skills
- Ability to organize and monitor work
- Collaborative
- Commitment to open and honest communication
